The vision of UK-Ukraine

the most spiritually needy areas
UK-Ukraine Ministries

When the former Soviet Union collapsed in 1991,  Ukraine became an independent country after years of Communist rule. During those years the Christians knew intense persecution and there were few opportunities for Gospel outreach & ministry. With the break down of Communism, a "relative" religious freedom has come, with the door now wide open for Christian Churches to openly preach Christ & seek to win the lost. People are being converted & churches are being built, in some cases very rapidly. It is a day of Gospel opportunity right now in the Ukraine like never before in over 3 generations. Yet still there are many pressures.

While independence has brought welcome religious freedom, the economy of Ukraine has collapsed through hyper-inflation & then massive devaluation. The former Communist bureaucracy has not been replaced with anything better, so life, business & administration are still very hard & complex. Jobs are scarce & money is in short supply. The black market, crime, corruption & bribery are rife. The great poverty accentuates the need of Ukrainians who also have a great need of the Gospel. Many people, especially the young are in the grip of alcoholism & drug abuse.

The opportunity to evangelize freely has also brought in a vast number of cults, especially from America, into Ukraine. They spoil the spiritual harvest & are misleading many souls that have never before in their lifetime had the freedom to openly hear about God.

UK-Ukraine Ministries was born out of first hand experience of living as a Christian & serving Christ in Ukraine, both during the years of persecution & freedom. This ministry is a new opportunity to be involved directly in the work of the Gospel in  Ukraine, in a way which will have a direct impact on the lives of individual people & churches.

Mission Statement

UK-Ukraine Ministries seeks to maximize the current opportunity of the open door for the Gospel in Ukraine, through the support of Christians & churches in the UK helping Christians & churches in Ukraine to preach Jesus Christ & witness to His saving grace.

Main Areas of Ministry

The vision of UK-Ukraine Ministries is to focus help into the most spiritually needy areas. These are the main areas that the ministry will seek to address:

  • Building links between Christians in the UK & the Ukraine as "partners in the Gospel"
  • Using financial support from the UK to directly help those in great spiritual need in Ukraine
  • Assist in sourcing, translating & publishing needed Christian literature for individuals & churches
  • Supporting direct Evangelistic outreach
  • Help with Theological training for Ukrainian Pastors & those with preaching & teaching opportunities

Our help & support is entirely for those of an Evangelical Christian standpoint, to build partnership in the gospel between those of like faith. Our Code of practice is that support is given secretly, directly, and if at all possible, by personal contact or courier. We currently operate independently, though we continue to build links, for help & advice, with other agencies.

How can I HELP?

There are many easy ways in which you can become a partner in the Gospel & help the work of Christ in Ukraine:

Perhaps you prayed for the Iron Curtain to come down so that Bibles & the Gospel could reach Eastern Europe & the former Soviet Empire? God has answered, but we must go on praying for the fruit from those Bibles & current Gospel opportunities.

Why not add Ukraine to your regular prayer list, for the many who are hearing the saving news of Jesus Christ for the very first time in their life.

Give us your name & address to receive our updates on Gospel ministry in Ukraine & how UK support is being used.

Due to the poor state of Ukrainian economy (& the strength of Western currency), every $1 given in the UK is currently worth 8-10 times more in Ukraine! For every $10 given, almost $100 worth of value is received in Ukraine.

If you would like to contribute, please do so with a cheerful heart & with prayer. We assure you that all money given goes DIRECTLY to areas of need, in line with our visions overleaf.

You can send cheques (made payable to "UK-Ukraine Ministries") to the address below or you can pay in anonymously at any branch of Midland Bank - account details below. Please remember - no amount is too small (multiply its value by 10!)
